Papua New Guinea now witnesses the growth of the Institute of Business Studies with its official endorsement from the Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology (DHERST) to be a Private Sector University as per the NEC decision on the 1st of December 2016.

From humble beginnings of providing training for accountants and now providing 28 years of quality education in Business and Information Technology to Papua New Guineans, the Institute of Business Studies has deservingly earned its new status.

It has been a gradual and consistent growth for the Institute now finally receiving university status since being an institute of Higher Education from 25th July 2007. The year that followed was the beginning of ongoing value-driven hard work and commitment to make IBS a university after the realization that indeed the Institute of Business Studies could well transform someday into a university.

On its list of achievements, this is the pinnacle of all milestones that the Institute of Business Studies have long worked hard for and it is with no doubt that students, parents, friends, and the rest of the IBS community all share the same happiness in this milestone.

“It has taken 28 years of visionary driven commitment and hard work to reach this very important milestone in IBS’ journey”, said Founder and Chairman of now IBSUniversity, Sir Mick Nades.

“We have found the inner core of our Vision, “To enrich lives through world class education, training and research. And to enrich lives, our focus has shifted from ‘teacher centered learning’ to ‘student centered learning’ in 2016. Indeed, this transformation will guide us towards becoming an “INNOVATIVE UNIVERSITY” in the South Pacific.”, added Sir Nades.

It is timely that IBS received this University status when it is introducing its own Bachelor Degree Programmes for the first time this year.

One of IBSUniversity’s goals is to give students a unique learning experience by offering opportunities to harness their natural talents and other extra-curricular activities so that they can enjoy their learning by minimizing the pressure of academic requirements. IBSUniversity thanks all Papua New Guineans who have supported its journey and gives equal credit to thousands of students. Parents, sponsors, both local and overseas partners, well-wishers and more importantly its staff.

Come join IBSUniversity as it explores the innovative education.
