Organisations are brought into existence for business and they are to be carried out in perpetuity. Thus it is essential for every organisation to constantly invest in their people and to build leaders, to create the next level of leadership as part of the next level of succession planning. Though our objective is not succession planning (even though leadership development, in most cases happens to fall under succession planning), we emphasise the importance of the development of leaders by creating an environment of development. Therefore, we put our existing leadership into challenging and demanding situations where their role of mentoring and coaching will be highlighted. Development of leaders happens only when the coaching and mentoring is intricately involved in the development program.
